3rd Annual Court Night gives families a chance to learn about substance abuse

Community members, especially parents and teens, are invited and strongly encouraged to attend court on Thursday, February 28 night in Rochester Hills for the Third Annual Court Night to learn about substance abuse and the consequences straight from the Judges and law enforcement who work with it on a daily basis.

The North Oakland Community Coalition partnered with Rochester/Auburn Hills Coalition and three 52-3 District Court judges Lisa Asaadorian, Nancy Carniak and Julie Nicholson, who will discuss marijuana and other illegal substance use, house parties, underage drinking, parental responsibility, and trends they are seeing in their court rooms as it relates to our youth.

Police chiefs include Lake Orion Police Chief Narsh, Rochester Chief Schettenhelm, Auburn Hills Chief Olko, will support the Judges presentations and help make Court Night possible.

The event takes place at the 52/3 District Court located at 700 Barclay Circle, Rochester starting at 6:30pm. As caring parents and concerned community members, we want our youth to grow up in safe communities. In order to make that happen, we all need to understand the laws and the consequences. Teenagers are strongly encouraged to attend this special event.

The North Oakland Community Coalition is a nonprofit organization, established in 2007, that is dedicated to promoting a sense of belonging in a healthy environment free of alcohol abuse and substance abuse by uniting Lake Orion and Oxford community members and developing community strengths for all.
