The 48th Annual Art & Apples Festival is in search of the finest, most imaginative, bakers looking to capture their talents as self-proclaimed apple dessert connoisseurs. Interested bakers may submit either and apple pie or apple dessert with apples as the main ingredient. Applications are available at www.ArtandApples.com. The non-refundable application fee is $5 and must be submitted by Tuesday, September 3, 2013. All proceeds benefit Paint Creek Center for the Arts.
Participating bakers will gather with their entries on Saturday, September 7, at 10:30 a.m. at the Art & Apples Festival in the fun and fabulous Rochester Park. Guest judges will be on-site to sample each pie or dessert and award first, second, and third place in each category.
The winners in each category will receive a one-of-a-kind dessert or pie dish created by an exhibiting artist and first place winners will be featured in an article in the 2014 Art & Apples Festival Event Guide. Winners will be announced at approximately 12:30 p.m. on the Main Stage following the judging.
This year’s Apple Pie & Dessert contest features new and familiar judges including: L. Brooks Patterson, Oakland County Executive, Rochester Hills Mayor, Bryan K. Barnett, Taryn Asher and Jason Carr from FOX2 Detroit, and Mark Slessor, Pastry Chef at the Royal Park Hotel.
The festival will be held in Rochester Park in Downtown Rochester Friday, September 6 through Sunday, September 8, 2013. Parking shuttle service is available from Rochester High School at the intersection of Livernois and University to the Rochester Community House in the park.
