Motor City Bike and Brew Tours to host 4th Annual Cruisin’ for the Trails Spring Charity Bike Ride for Friends of the Paint Creek Trail
The Motor City Bike & Brew Tours will be hosting the 4th Annual Cruisin’ for the Trails – Spring Charity Bike Ride to support the Friends of the Paint Creek Trail on Saturday May 7, 2016. Enjoy a bike ride along the Clinton River Trail and Paint Creek Trail with a special New Belgium Brewing Themed SAG stop (Beer and Donuts) at the Paint Creek Cider Mill. After the ride, there will be a New Belgium Brewing tap event and party with entertainment in the parking lot of Clubhouse BFD in Rochester Hills. As part of the event, there will be plenty of giveaways and a charity raffle to win a 2016 New Belgium Fat Tire Bike, made locally by Detroit Bikes. The first 500 participants will receive a New Belgium Brewing Bike Bell and Motor City Brew Tours / Main Street Bicycles water bottle. Net proceeds from the bike ride and raffle will support the Friends of the Paint Creek Trail for trail improvements.
Registration opens at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Clubhouse BFD, located at 2265 Crooks Road, in Rochester Hills. Tickets are $22 until April 6 online, and $25 after April 6 online. Tickets will be available the day of the event for $30 (cash only). “Our annual event celebrates the incredible cycling opportunities in the area, and we appreciate the non-profit groups who strive to provide a beautiful, natural place for cyclists and pedestrians to enjoy. This is one way we can show our support for all that they do. We have great support from the local business community with New Belgium Brewing, Clubhouse BFD, Main Street Bicycles, and the Paint Creek Cider Mill joining in to make this a fun event for everyone,” said Steve Johnson, President of Motor City Bike & Brew Tours. The Friends of the Paint Creek Trail is a non-profit 501(c)(3) whose mission is to support the use, maintenance, and improvement of the Paint Creek Trail. “We have enthusiastic members who love the Paint Creek Trail. With the support of the community and our fundraising events, we’ve been able to install a new drinking fountain at our Tienken Road trailhead, purchase and install bicycle repair stations, trash receptacles, and bike racks. We are currently fundraising for an educational side path with native plant gardens and are so pleased to again have the support of Steve Johnson and the Motor City Bike & Brew Tours,” said Jim VanDoorn, President of the Friends of the Paint Creek Trail. The Friends are selling raffle tickets for the 2016 New Belgium Fat Tire Bike. The tickets are $1 each, and the bicycle is valued at $500. Raffle tickets are available for purchase at Clubhouse BFD, or by visiting the Paint Creek Trail office, located in the Paint Creek Cider Mill, 4480 Orion Road, 2nd Floor, Oakland Township.
