5th Annual OPC Indoor Triathlon Receives Pure Michigan FITness Endorsement

The Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness, Health and Sports and the Michigan Fitness Foundation has endorsed the 5th Annual OPC Indoor Triathlon as a quality physical activity event through the Pure Michigan FITness Series endorsement program, it was announced in a recent press release.

The 5th Annual OPC Indoor Triathlon will be held on January 17, 2015 at the Older Persons’ Commission in Rochester, MI. The first heat will begin at noon and participants are asked to please check in at least 30 minutes before their heat time. Triathletes will swim, cycle and run each discipline, respectively, for 20 minutes. Participants will be measured on their distance traveled during the allotted time so participants can work at their own pace. A perfect event for triathletes of all ages and abilities, triathletes can register for the event as a team (2-3 people) or individually. Medals will be awarded to teams and individuals.

The Pure Michigan FITness Series program endorses local, regional and statewide events that are consistent with the Governor’s Council and the Michigan Fitness Foundation mission to promote healthy choices while offering a physical activity event that is open to all participants, regardless of skill level or age. The 5th Annual OPC Indoor Triathlon leads by example in providing a safe, healthy physical activity event for Michigan residents.

“By endorsing local events, we have the opportunity to highlight the positive impact of incorporating physical activity into your daily life,” says Mike Maisner, Vice President of Active Communities. “Pure Michigan FITness events promote physical activity for individuals and communities while providing a fun way for us all to get moving.”
