The Rochester Regional Chamber of Commerce invites the community to celebrate the entrance of the holiday season at the 63rd Annual Rochester Hometown Christmas Parade, which will march down Main Street on December 7 at 2 p.m.
The theme for this year’s Christmas parade is “A Movie Time Christmas,” taking the magic of Christmas movie classics such as Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas, from the big screen to Main Street.
The Parade begins at the corner of Tienken and Rochester Roads and continues south along Main Street to Third Street in Downtown Rochester. New this year, Rochester Hills TV will live stream the parade for those who want to stay bundled indoors. The live stream can be found at RochesterHills.org or www.youtube.com/rochesterhillstv.
According to the press release for the third year running, this year’s parade will host Junior Grand Marshals: John Stathakios and Sydney Treichel.
The Junior Grand Marshal selection is an effort launched by Rochester leaders to encourage student involvement in community organizations and events. This year’s Junior Grand Marshals, receiving $1,000 scholarships from Genisys Credit Union, were chosen during the third annual Rochester Student Leadership Retreat, held in June. The Junior Grand Marshals will lead the Parade along with this year’s Grand Marshal, Mr. Bill Fox.
Grand Marshal, Bill Fox was nominated in recognition of his energetic community involvement and extensive financial support for local causes. “The Rochester area has been good to the Fox family,” Bill explained, “We are proud and happy to be part of this community.” Joining Bill and his wife Shirlee on Parade Day will be their six children and 21 grandchildren.
Bill and Shirlee will be honored at the annual Grand Marshal reception held at the Great Oaks Country Club on Thursday, December 4 at 6 p.m. The community is invited to this event and tickets are open to the public by purchasing online at www.RRC-MI.com.
The Rochester Hometown Christmas Parade is one of the greater Rochester area’s most popular events, drawing thousands of visitors each year. The Rochester Regional Chamber of Commerce is honored to play a central planning role for the Parade, and is dedicated to bringing the magic of Christmas classic movies to the community.
