Proceeds to Benefit Beaumont Children’s, a Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospital
Elise Bromund, the 2016-2017 Children’s Miracle Network Hospital Champion for Michigan, has been selected to appear on multi-grain Cheerios boxes sold across the nation for the month of May. The boxes of cereal will be sold at all Costco stores with partial proceeds supporting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, including Beaumont Children’s. Elise’s image was selected from dozens of photos submitted by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals to General Mills.
“Elise has benefited so much from medical care at Beaumont. She has had multiple surgeries and medical tests,” said Beth Bromund, Elise’s mother. “Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals have helped make her stays more pleasant with special pediatric equipment and the chairs that pull out to become twin-size beds for us to comfortably spend the night by her side. We are grateful that the CMN programs now follow Elise to our new home in North Carolina.”
At three months old, Elise was diagnosed with Jacobsen Syndrome and a rare congenital blood disorder. The combination of conditions created several challenges for Elise including an immune deficiency, two holes in her heart, asthma, epilepsy and others. Elise has had eight surgeries due to birth defects.
Now 8 years old, the two holes in Elise’s heart have closed but there is a risk they will re-open. Her bleeding disorder requires her to be cautious and necessitates long-term medical care.
As Michigan’s CMN Champion, Elise made several appearances at Beaumont Children’s CMN fundraising events. Her passion for singing lead her to perform the National Anthem at baseball games and entertain guests at CMN partner promotions. Elise has also appeared on Beaumont Children’s collateral and in a video highlighting the strength and courage of children helped by Beaumont Children’s entitled Dear Life.
Elise works hard, practices and perseveres at things she wants to accomplish. She always has a positive attitude, and encourages others with words and hugs. She personifies her motto, “Never give up.”
In 2017, Elise and her family moved to North Carolina from their long-time home in Rochester, but still have many ties to Michigan.
