Join the merchants of Downtown Rochester on Monday, November 22, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. when they offer their customers Lagniappe (Creole for “a little something extra”) in appreciation for their support throughout the year.
The Rochester Downtown Development Authority (DDA) also will offer some Lagniappe with the debut of The Big, Bright Light Show. The program will begin at 6:20 p.m. on E. Fourth Street with help from the Mayor; Channel 7’s Dave LewAllen; and a special appearance by the man in red, Santa Claus himself. The lights will officially light-up downtown Rochester at 7:00 p.m. Kids will then have the opportunity to share their Christmas lists with Santa from 7:15 – 9:00 p.m.
“Lagniappe is an opportunity for us to show our appreciation to the community in which we work and live,” said Brad Saarela, Owner of Somerset Lending Corp, Andrews Realty Group and University Title. “We know that we owe a good deal of our growth and success over the years to our local borrowers and every year we look forward to sponsoring Santa Claus so that we are able to contribute to this celebration, not only of lights and the Christmas spirit, but a celebration of Rochester and our rich history.”
Following Lagniappe, The Big, Bright Light Show will run nightly from 5:00 p.m. – 12 midnight through January 2, 2022. After January 2, The Big, Bright Light Show will be aglow every Friday, Saturday & Sunday in January through the weekend of January 15. Also, don’t forget to think big, and shop small this holiday season! Shop downtown Rochester for Plaid Friday on November 26 and Small Business Saturday on November 27. The following weekend the DDA will host the Kris Kringle Market, an open-air holiday market on December 3 & 4.
