Local nonprofits have a new resource to help them learn about and apply for thousands of grants. Rochester Hills Public Library (RHPL) and the Community Foundation of Greater Rochester (CFGR) have teamed up to offer library free access to the Foundation Directory Online (FDO), a service provided by Candid, which formed in 2019 when Foundation Center and GuideStar joined forces.
With a database of over 100,000 U.S.-based foundations focused on philanthropic giving, FDO is an essential resource for local nonprofits in need of additional funding. With a $5,000 grant from CFGR, RHPL can purchase the subscription to FDO, which will be available to all RHPL patrons and includes access to live chat agents, tutorials, grant-writing tips, advice, and more.
“FDO is a premier directory of current grants and it will help many of our local nonprofits in their endeavors,” said Juliane Morian, director of Rochester Hills Public Library. “They now have access to a funding tool that will inspire even more philanthropic activities and developments. We could not be more appreciative of such an invaluable resource made possible by the Community Foundation of Greater Rochester.”
The directory is accessible at the library only and will not be available remotely.
The Community Foundation of Greater Rochester was founded in 1983 to ensure the community’s short and long-term vitality from generation to generation.
