While we should be grateful for the many blessings in our life everyday, Thanksgiving is a great time to remember that we should share with others what we are most thankful for. With this in mind, we thought you would be interested in seeing what some of your local leaders are counting as their blessings this year. As you gather with your friends and family and read through these comments, may you find a few things for which you are thankful too. Here at Rochester Media, we are thankful that you have been enjoying our weekly news updates. We are thankful that we live in a country that has freedom of speech. And we are thankful for the family and friends in our community and abroad! Enjoy your holiday and remember to give thanks!
“I am thankful for a healthy and growing family, a safe and strong community, and the coming of another blessed holiday season.” (Rochester Mayor, Jeffrey Cuthbertson)
“As I pause to think of what I’m thankful for, I realize just how blessed I really am. I am always grateful for my family. My wife, Corrin, and children, Kenneth and Tristan, are the joys of my life and provide so many wonderful daily memories. I am also thankful for the opportunity to have a job that I absolutely love. It is a blessing to work for our residents and live in such a great community. Finally, like many of you, I am thankful that the NFL season is only 16 games.” (Rochester Hills Mayor, Bryan Barnett)
“I am thankful that I live in a country that has the freedom to worship and pursue our hopes and dreams. I am thankful to my wife and family for supporting me in everything that I do, and I am thankful and honored that the people of Rochester and Rochester Hills elected me to be their next Oakland County Commissioner.” (Newly Elected County Commissioner Jeff Matis)
“I am thankful that we live in a great community surrounded by folks who care deeply about it. I’m grateful for the trust taxpayers have placed in us to spend their money wisely. I’m also grateful to have outstanding leadership in Rochester who understands the responsiblities inherent in such trust.” (City Councilman Ben Giovanelli)
“I’m thankful, proud, and blessed to be an American. I’m thankful for my wonderful family and friends. I’m thankful that I could write a hundred more things that I’m thankful for.” (Oakland County Commissioner, Sue Ann Douglas)
“I am thankful for the love and support of my family, that I live in America where we have freedom, democracy and the right to have our voices heard, and finally, as the newly elected Secretary of State, that I’ll be able to work and be a part of Michigan’s comeback.” (Newly Elected Secretary of State Ruth Johnson)
“I am thankful for God’s blessings, for my family, and for living in America!” (Sheriff Michael Bouchard)
“This year has been an easy year for my wife and I to find things to be thankful for. We welcomed our second child to the world this past August. I’m very thankful for the love and support of all of my friends and family, but most of all I’m thankful for my lovely wife. Being the spouse of a councilman can be rewarding, but it is not without many challenges and pressures. My wife Carrie has handled those challenges with grace and patience, and for her commitment to me and my endeavors I am eternally grateful. Lastly, I’m very thankful for the health of our city. As we charge forward into 2011, we’re continuing to see positive news. We’re not completely out of the rough spot yet, but it has become clear that we’re making strong progress. The better years lie ahead for Rochester Hills and for that I am very thankful.” (City Councilman Nathan Klomp)
“I am thankful for my family and friends, especially my wife Julia. I am thankful that we live in a great community that cares for one another. I am thankful for all the blessings in my life.” (City Councilman Mike Webber)
“I am thankful for my family, my faith, and my freedom!” (City Councilman Vern Pixley)
