The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) expects to close Adams Road from Avon Road to Walton Blvd. in Rochester Hills on Monday, July 13, for guard rail and bank stabilization work.
The road is being closed due to its narrowness in this section. Work is being completed by RCOC Highway Maintenance staff. The closure is expected to last approximately two weeks. During the closure, access to homes and businesses will be maintained. This section of Adams Road carries approximately 21,130 vehicles per day.
The official RCOC detour for Northbound through traffic is Avon Road to Livernois Road to Walton Blvd. and back to Adams Road. The official detour for Southbound through traffic is Walton Blvd. to Livernois Road to Avon Road and back to Adams Road. Local residents may quickly note that Old Perch Road – instead of Livernois Road – will cut off two miles of that detour. However, Old Perch Road is a two-lane road, with a lower speed limit, and goes through a school zone, which may lead to long backups. Untimely, commuters will have to decide the best route for their avoidance of the road closure.
First I’m hearing about this!! And I live on Adams Road, near Walton Blvd.
Closed for how long?
