Adams Road to Close Starting August 8

The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) will close Adams Road – south of Rochester Hills – to southbound traffic between South Boulevard and Square Lake Road on the Troy/Bloomfield Township border beginning August 8 for road resurfacing.

The road will remain closed to southbound traffic throughout the project. Northbound Adams Road will remain open to traffic throughout the project. The project is expected to be completed in late October.

The detour route for southbound traffic will be South Boulevard to Squirrel Road to Square Lake Road and back to Adams Road.

The $2.1 million project is funded mostly with federal dollars along with $418,000 from RCOC. It will include:

  • Milling and resurfacing
  • Shoulder widening
  • Drainage improvements
  • Construction of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant sidewalks with pedestrian signals

Ajax Paving, of Troy, is the contractor for the project.

This section of Adams Road carries around 14,900 vehicles daily. For more information on the Adams Road project, visit:  http://www.rcocweb.org/440/Adams-Road
