Historical Society Hosts 23RD Annual Antique Appraisal Day at the Rochester Community House, March 6
Still wonder what Grandma’s Chinese vase is worth? Do you have a shelf full of dusty antiques? Bring them to the Rochester-Avon Historical Society’s 23rd annual Antique Appraisal Day on Sunday, March 6 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Rochester Community House, 816 Ludlow and learn if you have a financial treasure or a sentimental one.
For over two decades the Rochester-Avon Historical Society has hosted one of the most popular events in the Rochester area – Antique Appraisal Day. Similar to the PBS’s “Antique Roadshow”, Antique Appraisal Day gives attendees the opportunity to learn more about their antique or vintage items. Whether or not an antique is worth money or simply a pretty knickknack, attending the Antique Appraisal Day is always a fun and entertaining event.
Local antiques experts and appraisers will be available to appraise a myriad of antique items including, books, manuscripts, first editions, coins, clocks, glass, pottery, collectibles, china, lighting, lamps, furniture, military items, antique weapons, dolls and related items, teddy bears, costume & fine jewelry, Eastern Art, engravings, needlepoint, art (oils, prints, pastels), traditional toys (Hot Wheels, action figures, electric trains, board games) and, musical instruments (violin, cello, bass, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, electric and acoustic guitars).
For larger items that cannot be transported, attendees are encouraged to bring photographs showing the piece to be appraised and any details about the item that may be helpful to the appraiser.
Admission to Antique Appraisal Day is free. Appraisals are $5 per item worth more than $20 in value. Limit five (5) items per person, please, and cash only. The first 50 people in line will receive a free gift from the historical society. Parking is also free and complimentary refreshments – coffee, tea and cookies – will be available throughout the afternoon. No buying or selling is permitted at this event. All items are appraised at fair market value.
Proceeds from the appraisal event benefit the Rochester-Avon Historical Society and its mission to preserve, collect and interpret the history of the greater Rochester area for present and future generations.
