The Women’s Fund likes writing checks. Even better is getting to see how the funds change lives. Last year the Women’s Fund provided the Assistance League of Southeastern Michigan with a $2500 grant toward their Assault Survivor Kits Program.
Based on a recent update from the Assistance League of Southeastern Michigan, the grant is helping to fund new clothing and personal items to trauma centers for assault survivor kits for victims of sexual abuse. The Assault Survivor Kit program is the only program in the state that provides clean clothes and toiletries for survivors that need to leave their clothes with the police.
“We have been asked by many of the facilities that we service if we could provide kits for children. Very sad to think there is such a need. But we have decided to expand our program to include these kits, and your donation will help us to do that. We have already started assembling the kits for children and are distributing them to facilities around the state as they are requested. Thanks so much to for making this necessary expansion to our program possible,” Carol Murphy, Philanthropic VP of the Assistance League of Southeastern Michigan.
Assistance League of Southeastern Michigan is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization whose purpose is to clothe, feed, educate, and comfort children and adults through community-based programs.
Over the past 16 years, the Women’s Fund has donated more than $300,000 to organizations helping women. The fund is a permanently endowed fund owned and administered by the Community Foundation of Greater Rochester. Through grant-making, the Fund provides ongoing and future support for programs that aid women while preserving and managing its donations in perpetuity by spending only the fund’s income and annual earnings.
