The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) expects to close Auburn Road at the west side of the Dequindre Road/Auburn Road intersection on the Rochester Hills/Shelby Township border from approximately September 24 through approximately November 1 as part of the ongoing Dequindre Road widening project from Utica Road to Collins Avenue. Dequindre Road will remain open through the intersection throughout this time.
During the closure, access to homes and businesses along Auburn Road between Dequindre Road and John R Road will be maintained, but motorists will have to access them from the west (John R Road). The detour for Auburn Road through traffic is John R Road to Hamlin Road to Dequindre Road and back to Auburn Road and vice versa.
Anyone interested can watch the progress of the project on the RCOC website, by clicking on the “Dequindre Road Construction Work Zone Camera” link in the “Helpful Links” section at the bottom of the home page. Site visitors can view photos of the project or a time-lapse series that combines all photos taken in succession. RCOC will produce a compilation of all the photos following the completion of the project.
The Dequindre Road construction project is expected to be completed in late fall.
