Avondale School District Alternative High School Recognized for Innovation and Impact on Students
Avondale School District alternative high school, the Avondale Academy, has been selected from almost 300 alternative educational institutions from around the State of Michigan as the 2017-2018 Michigan Alternative Education Organization (MAEO) School of the Year. Avondale Academy was chosen for this designation based on a variety of factors including the program’s history, its impact on students, contributions made by the school to the community, innovative and/or unique programming opportunities for students, graduation rates, testing and college readiness data, culture, climate and vision. The Avondale Academy was honored at the MAEO conference in Mt. Pleasant on May 3.
