Students will join peers from across the State to perform at annual conference
Three students from Avondale High School were selected for the Michigan Vocal Music Association State Honors Choir.
Prior to being chosen for the State Honors Choir, the students, senior Ashley Andrews, sophomore Kevin Cornwell II, and senior Paul Murphy, were selected to the Regional Honors Choir after submitting an audition tape. They traveled to South Lyon on Saturday to be part of the Regional Choir Festival which included rehearsals and performances alongside their peers from around the region. During the festival, students auditioned for a place in the State Honors Choir.
To be selected for State Honors Choir, students must be able to sight read and are rated in five performance areas including tone quality (supported, free, focused), technical accuracy (pitch and rhythm), intonation, memorization and musicianship which includes phrasing, dynamics and diction. State Honors Choir will rehearse and perform during the Michigan Music Conference on January 21, 2016 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
