Joe Burns, President of Back to the Beach Runners, said that “Funds for our donation came from annual running of the Stony Creek ‘Back To The Beach’ Half Marathon 10k and 5k which is held each May and runs in and around Stony Creek Metropark. Helping to support the placement of a new fountain near Tienken Road was an easy decision since our Back to the Beach Runners group is represented by many of the local clubs in the area who always train on the Paint Creek Trail. These clubs include the Stoney Creek Running Club, Your Pace or Mine, Infinite Multisport Triathlon Club, Team in Training and Just Finish.”

Jim Van Doorn, President of Friends of the Paint Creek Trail, was happy to accept the donation on behalf of the group. “We greatly appreciate the continued support of Back to the Beach Runners in helping us achieve our goal of  enhancing the Paint Creek Trail for thousands of users annually, and look forward to installing a drinking fountain this year.“ This year’s race will be held on May 18th.
