Kerrie Ferrell will give an entertaining PowerPoint presentation that chronicles the ‘64 year major league career of her father, Hall of Fame catcher Rick Ferrell (1905-’95) on Thursday, September 20 at 7 p.m. at the Rochester Hills Public Library. Kerrie will discuss her book, Rick Ferrell, Knuckleball Catcher: A Hall of Famer’s Life Behind the Plate and the Front Office, that forms the basis of the program. Learn how baseball has impacted American twentieth century social and economic upheavals like the Great Depression and the 1960s.
See historic slides of Rick’s 18 years with the Boston Red Socks and Washington Senators and his years with the Detroit Tigers from coach to general manager/vice-president, helping to assemble the 1968 and 1984 World Series teams. After the presentation, books will be available for purchase.
