Blue vs. Gray in Black and White
That’s the informal color scheme for the Friends of the Rochester Hills Public Library’s Summer Used Book Sale, set for July 27 –August 1.
A large collection of Civil War books constitutes the marquee item for sale at the library building at 500 Olde Towne Road in downtown Rochester. It will be located in the library’s second floor addition in the space dedicated to the Friends’ used book operation. The new area is marking its first anniversary with this sale.
Other reasons to stop by? There’s a large selection of DVDs for $2, CDs & VHS cassettes for 50 cents and a plethora of jigsaw puzzles. It’s a good chance to stock up before leaving for an August vacation rest! The sale hours are familiar to regulars with one exception. Because the library is closed on Sundays in the summer, the Bag Day (all the items you can place in a large paper grocery bag for $5) will be Monday morning. Come early for the best selection. As usual, Friends members (new members can join upon entry) get to take part in a pre-sale, set for Wednesday, July 27, from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m.
The general sale open to the public then takes place as follows:
- Thursday, July 28: 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Friday, July 29: 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Saturday, July 30: 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Monday, August 1: 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Bag Day (explained above).
