Brewster Girl Scouts Sing for the Needy

On Friday evening, December 3, 2010, the 4th grade Brewster Elementary Girl Scout troop spread some joy to the neighbors in the Georgetown subdivision while bringing joy to those in need.  Troop 72588 “caroled for cans” for the Grace Centers of Hope in Pontiac.  Girls knocked on doors and sang Christmas songs to neighbors in hopes of collecting a few nonperishable goods for those in need this holiday season.  Other Rochester Girl Scout troops also caroled for cans that Friday and Saturday evening raising a total of over 900 cans for the Pontiac homeless shelter.  Jennifer Curran, Troop leader 72588 (Brewster Elementary) says, “Way to go girls!”
The attached picture was submitted by one Rochester area resident who was thrilled with their idea. “We got to listen to two verses of Jingle bells,” stated local resident Karen Mallender.  Teresa DiMaria, Principal of Brewster Elementary School said, “I am so very proud of our Brewster students on a daily basis. They have a deep sense of giving and sharing within the community. Our Brewster family excels in so many ways, and generously giving back to the community is just one of our strengths.”
