Brooksie Way Minigrants to be Awarded as Last Call Goes Out for 2013 Race Registration

Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson will be awarding more than $7,000 in Brooksie Way Minigrants to six community organizations during the sponsor reception for the HealthPlus Brooksie Way. Running legends Bill Rodgers and Greg Meyer – the last American male to win the Boston Marathon – are expected to attend the reception at The Royal Park Hotel, 600 E. University, Rochester, Mich., on Wednesday, September 25 at 6 p.m.

The Brooksie Way Minigrant program has awarded more than $100,000 to support community health and fitness projects in the county. The minigrants are supported with proceeds from the half marathon, 10k and 5k races, which begin Sunday at 8:00 a.m. on the campus of Oakland University.
