Students at Rochester High School participated in a career exploration day by listening to guest speakers in their core and elective subject areas. Over forty-two classes were exposed to a diverse array of career areas and were afforded the opportunity to listen to guest speakers which included an engineer, nurse anesthetist, veterinarian, chef, forensic police officer, historian, small business owner, project manager, federal agent, photographer, CAD designer and an accountant.
RHS Art Teacher Jessica McClean said, “Career day was wonderful. My speaker, Beth Marsack did a lovely job speaking to the children about her passion for photography and how she has developed a successful career out of her hobby. ” Mrs. Pierce, World History Teacher described Mr. McEnroe, a Professor of History at Oakland University as, “ …great with the freshman and my kids asked lots of questions including what kind of education it takes to become a historian. I thought that was great for 9th graders!”
Chris Demeniuk, a Ford Design Engineer, was able to talk about his work by bringing five cars to RHS from all over the world, including a Ford SVT Raptor off-road racing truck, a Mustang Shelby GT500, a Ford Territory “Ute” (from Australia), as well as a brand-new Ford Fiesta and yet-to-be-released next-generation Ford Explorer.
