Detroit’s Last Independent Automaker to speak at the Rochester Hills Public Library
Charles Hyde, author of The Hudson Motor Car Company: Detroit’s Last Independent Automaker will speak at the Rochester Hills Public Library on Thursday, November 11 at 7 p.m. The presentation will examine the lifespan of the Hudson Motor Car Company, from its foundation in 1909 to its merger with Nash Motors in 1954 to form the American Motors Corporation. It will include a close look at Hudson’s leaders and its vehicles over time and will offer an explanation for Hudson’s early success and its later failure. Charles Hyde has published eight books, most recently, Storied Independent Automakers: Nash, Hudson, and American Motors; The Dodge Brothers: The Men, the Motor Cars, and the Legacy and Riding the Roller Coaster: A History of the Chrysler Corporation. After the presentation, books will be available for purchase.
