Residents of Rochester, Rochester Hills, and Oakland Township, don’t miss this exciting event at Rochester Hills Public Library. Each child who registers for library programs must have his or her own library card and be a resident of Rochester, Rochester Hills, or Oakland Township.  Registration is online. Confirmation numbers are required at the door. All youth programs are funded by the Friends of the Rochester Hills Public Library. Story Making 101

Grades 1-3 with a caregiver

Saturday, November 2

2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Multipurpose Room

Create your very own book using the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s MyStoryMaker! Each child will take home a booklet of the story they created during the workshop. Register all children. Caregiver’s attendance is required. Fifteen library laptops are available during program and will be loaned out in the order of requests. Children can also bring and use their own laptops. Online registration begins Saturday, October 26 at 9:00 a.m.

Secret Agent Spy Party
Grades 1-5
Saturday, November 16

3:00 to 4:00 p.m., Multipurpose Room
Register all children attending.  Join us for code-breaking, secret-identity-creating, fingerprint-taking, and mystery-solving. Complete the challenges to earn your Spy Credentials!  Online registration begins on Saturday, November 9 at 9:00 a.m.

11:00 a.m. until Noon
Register all children attending.  Join us for a fun-filled hour of play based learning for toddlers and preschoolers. Parents/caregivers will follow their child’s lead as they explore the materials provided while connecting with other families, interacting with the early childhood specialist, and getting information on early literacy programs at the library. Registration for each session opens one week prior at 9:00 a.m.

Dinner and Discussion: A Family Book Club
Thursday, November 21

6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Story Room
Best suited to families with elementary and middle school students, but all ages are welcome.

Register all adults and children attending; children should be accompanied by an adult. Join us for pizza, lively discussion and activities based on a different theme each month.  See events calendar for monthly themes, read a book as a family, then come prepared to tell us about it. Registration opens one week prior to each date at 9:00 a.m.
