Rochester Hills Public Library Renames Youth Room for former Director, Christine Lind Hage

Christine Lind Hage Youth Room

In January 2020, Rochester Hills Public Library (RHPL) announced the renaming of its Youth Room in honor of retired library director Christine Hage. Last month, the library installed a new sign above the entrance to the Youth Room to mark the occasion.

Hage retired in 2019 after a forty-eight-year career in public libraries, including thirty-one years with RHPL. Under Hage’s leadership, the current library was built at 500 Olde Towne Road and usage surpassed the two million loan threshold.

“Countless young people have been shaped by Christine’s commitment to excellence in youth librarianship,” said Juliane Morian, library director. “Her legacy is making reading a daily habit to enjoy, especially among children.”

Currently, Rochester Hills Public Library is in Phase Four of its reopening plan. The plan includes limiting building access to the lobby and rotunda, where patrons may pick up their holds and use the self-checkout station before they take materials home. The library plans to move into their Phase Three Grab & Go Services of reopening on Monday, February 1.
