The Oakland Township Safety Paths and Trails Committee invite everyone to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony commemorating the opening of the new Cider Mill Connector Safety Path Wednesday, October 5, at 5:00 p.m.
Just in time for cider mill season, this recently completed safety path and trail provides an much-needed connection from the Paint Creek Trail to the village of Goodison and eliminates the need to use a very busy vehicular bridge on Gallagher Road. The Cider Mill Connector travels from the Paint Creek Trail behind Flagstar Bank to the new pedestrian bridge on Orion Road and then along Orion Road to the Paint Creek Cider Mill.
Funded entirely through Oakland Township’s Safety Paths and Trails Millage Fund, the project was constructed by Birmingham Sealcoat in conjunction with another new trail connection at Silverbell and Brewster Roads and was completed in mid-September of 2016. The Cider Mill Connector meets all of the requirements outlined in the Safety Paths and Trails Master Plan to provide safe routes to popular destinations for walkers, hikers, bicyclists and other users in the township and is an economical alternative to a previous connection proposed in 2012.
The Oakland Township Safety Paths and Trails Committee particularly wishes to recognize Flagstar Bank for their generosity in donating this important easement.
Light refreshments will be served.
