City Council Election Results 2017

The unofficial results of the 2017 election are now posted at the Oakland County clerk’s office. Visit their website for all the results in the county. For readers of The Community Edge, there were no elections in Oakland Township, however here are the results for the City of Rochester and the City of Rochester Hills.

For the City of Rochester Council, the top three voters – Nancy L. Salvia, Dean Bevazque, and Stuart Bikson – will receive 4-year terms, and the fourth top spot will go to Ann Peterson, who will receive a 2-year term. The two remaining candidate on the ballot – Tammy Byers and Lynn Campo – will have to look at other ways to serve the community, as they did not have enough votes to win a seat on council.

For Rochester Hills City Council, the winning At Large candidate is Jenny McCardell, who took 4,025 votes, just 39 votes more than the incumbent Kevin S. Brown, who took 3,986. Stephanie Morita retains her seat in District 1 and so does Jim Kubicina in district 2. Both Morita and Kubicina ran unopposed. In District 4, Ryan J. Deel took 890 votes to Ryan Smith’s 494 vote total, giving Deel the win with 64% of the voters picking him.

Rochester Media would like to thank all the candidates who participated and offered their time to run. Best wishes to all of them as they move on to the next phase.
