If you are a senior citizen, this message is for you! Bryan K. Barnett, Mayor of Rochester Hills, wants you to have a healthy, flu-free winter. Please call the Mayor’s Office at 248 656-4664 to schedule an appointment for your flu or pneumococcal shot. The Visiting Nurse Association’s Flu Busters Flu Shot Clinic is scheduled for Friday, October 1 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The shots will be available at 1000 Rochester Hills Drive in the city hall Auditorium. The city municipal office is located on the south side of Avon Road just west of Livernois. The cost is $25 for flu shot and $50 for the pneumonia shot. Medicare Part B (and many Medicare Advantage plans), BCN, HAP (except Cigna plans), Priority Health, and HealthPlus of Michigan are accepted. Please bring all health insurance cards and picture ID.
Who should receive a flu shot? Seniors over age 50 are strongly encouraged to get the flu shot. A flu shot is essential for individuals who are at high risk, such as, residents of nursing homes and other chronic-care facilities, individuals who have chronic disorders of the lungs or heart, diabetes and other metabolic diseases, kidney problems, blood disorders, or are immunosuppressed (including HIV).
