This July will mark the 150th anniversary of the formation of the 22nd Michigan Infantry regiment that fought in the Civil War. This Michigan regiment was assembled in Pontiac. Among these patriotic volunteers were men from Rochester and Avon Township.
To commemorate this anniversary, the Rochester Hills Museum store is now selling Oakland County in the Civil War maps. This 36″ x 42″ color poster shows all of the historical sites, cemeteries and monuments that are related to the Civil War. The poster also includes Civil War trivia, archival pictures, and Underground Railroad information.
Cost is $20. The museum is currently closed to drop-in visits. For an appointment, call (248) 656-4663.
