Clarkston Division of 52nd District Court to Join State Judicial Information Systems

Clarkston, Michigan, December 28, 2010 – In a move designed to increase efficiency and reduce costs, the Clarkston Division of the 52nd District Court will join the State of Michigan Judicial Information Systems (JIS), a court case management system provided and maintained by the State Court Administrative Office.

Clarkston Division will begin using the JIS application on January 3, 2011.

The State JIS replaces the Clarkston Division’s existing case management system. This change is expected to produce significant cost savings while boosting productivity and efficiency in court operations.

Key benefits of the change:

  • Reduces 52nd District Court budget without cutting services
  • Increases productivity of 52nd District Court offices
  • Increases efficiency in court operations
  • Eliminates redundant operations by consolidating case management with State of Michigan Court Administrative Office
  • Streamlines future updates and maintenance of case management system
  • Prepares for future upgrade to “next generation” Michigan court case management system

“Technology is extremely important in the court system, and sharing resources with the State of Michigan makes sense in this challenging economy. Using the Judicial Information System will allow our courts to function more efficiently now and into the future,” said Judge Joseph Fabrizio, presiding judge of the 52/2 District Court.

52nd District Court Divisions in Rochester Hills, Troy, and Novi will also join the State JIS later in 2011.
