UPDATE: The organizers have cancelled this event and will possibly reschedule for February 2016.
Bring your family out for a day of fun benefiting Operation Yellow Ribbon, Friday, June 26 at the DAV hall located at 47326 Dequindre Road in Shelby Township. Tickets are only a $10 donation.
If you’d like to be featured in the talent show, there are still openings. Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place. Contact Peggy at 248.425.2722 to receive the application for consideration. But hurry! The show will be limited to 12 acts.
Dr. Stephen Vallecorse will be supporting the event by giving a door prize, and his 4th Street Chiropractic will be donating 100 percent of the $40 fee to Operation Yellow Ribbon for any new patient initial visit. This first visit will include a consultation, an orthopedic and neurological exam, and a report of the findings. It is just one way the doctor felt he could easily give back and serve the community at the same time. The doctor says that he “has a heart for the military.” His sister is a retired Lt. Col. who served two tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Peggy Ann Kralik, Director at Operation Yellow Ribbon said that she was absolutely thrilled that the doctor would be so willing to support our charity and those that we benefit, saying, “The need is so great, now more than ever, and with so many of our military members deployed, those left behind to fend for themselves often don’t know where to turn when they fall short financially.”
She also said that they recently paid for emergency utility bills that had gone unpaid due to lack of funds. The recipient was so thankful, saying, “I felt like we were drowning. With this cold winter, it wouldn’t have been very much fun to have your gas and electricity turned off, and just before Christmas. I talked with the wife of an airman with six children whose furnace had gone off and needed repair — the airman came back to a house with a non-working furnace.”
Operation Yellow Ribbon is a volunteer-supported charity with no administrative fees. One hundred percent of the proceeds will be going to this deserving organization. Door prizes will also be awarded, along with the usual 50/50 raffle. Snacks and drinks (beer, wine, sodas, and water) will also be served for additional donations.
