Oakland County Health Division launched a countywide survey this week to gather residents’ views on key issues that affect health and wellness. The survey, which is part of the Energizing Connections for Healthier Oakland (ECHO) initiative, will help public health professionals prioritize and respond to health concerns in Oakland County.
“This community survey enables our Health Division and its community partners to improve the quality of life for residents and achieve better overall health in the county,” Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson said. “Input from our residents will improve our understanding of the health needs in our communities.”
The short survey will gauge participants’ opinions on topics ranging from access to medical care and support services to how concerned they are about various health issues within their communities. It touches on general community characteristics including affordable housing, social and cultural diversity, and access to medical care. The survey is one of a variety of ways that ECHO is collecting information from the community according to the press release.
“It is extremely important that we have the community’s participation as we move forward with the development of a county health improvement plan,” said Kathy Forzley manager/health officer of the Health Division. “This survey is a way for the community to be involved in that plan.”
The survey can be completed online at www.oakgov.com/health. Request a hard copy with a postage paid return envelope by emailing: echo@oakgov.com. Surveys are available in English, Spanish, or Arabic. Anyone over the age of 18 that lives, works, plays, or worships in Oakland County is eligible to take the survey.
