Hello Willie,

I’m not confused at all. Vote NO on everything. I don’t even need to read the proposals to know to vote NO. I always vote NO on proposals – I hate change. But just in case you’re on the fence, here’s my evaluation to push you to one side, or the other.

Proposal 1 – Legalize Pot – “PROPOSAL 18-1 – A PROPOSED INITIATED LAW TO AUTHORIZE AND LEGALIZE POSSESSION, USE AND CULTIVATION OF MARIJUANA PRODUCTS BY INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OF AGE AND OLDER, AND COMMERCIAL SALES OF MARIJUANA THROUGH STATE-LICENSED RETAILERS”

I’m all for decimalizing it, but that’s what this is about. You know who has medial marijuana licenses? Potheads who found a loophole. Do you know will throw away their medial marijuana cards if this passes because they can now buy it legally? You guessed it, the same potheads. Rumor is health insurance and auto insurance rates will go through the roof if this passes. Not a fan of that. Did you know they make candy, ice cream, and other snack food out of marijuana for those who don’t want to smoke it? How many kids may accidentally consume it? It should be you can only smoke what you grow and you can’t sell it. Make ’em work for it I say.

Proposal 2 – Transfer Redistricting Corruption – “PROPOSAL 18-2 – A PROPOSED CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT TO ESTABLISH A COMMISSION OF CITIZENS WITH EXCLUSIVE AUTHORITY TO ADOPT DISTRICT BOUNDARIES FOR THE MICHIGAN SENATE, MICHIGAN HOUSE OF REPRESENTATVIES AND U.S. CONGRESS, EVERY 10 YEARS”

The current “Gerrymandering” system is broken. But this just changes the corruption to another group. Trust me, the fix is already in.

Proposal 3 – Voting Chaos – “PROPOSAL 18-3 – A PROPOSAL TO AUTHORIZE AUTOMATIC AND ELECTION DAY VOTER REGISTRATION, NO-REASON ABSENTEE VOTING, AND STRAIGHT TICKET VOTING; AND ADD CURRENT LEGAL REQUIREMENTS FOR MILITARY AND OVERSEAS VOTING AND POST-ELECTION AUDITS TO THE MICHIGAN CONSTITUTION

This has a few good ideas but is really designed to cause chaos on election day. City clerks will be pressured to turn out results in a hurry, but if hundreds (or thousands) turn up on election day to vote without pre-registering, the logistics will be unreal. Election results may have to wait days, or even weeks, in some areas until “same day registrants” are validated. Michigan has done a lot to clean up voter databases … get ready to unravel all that good work.

So there you have it. Vote yes if you want chaos, corruption and potheads running the state (of course, we may already have that), or vote NO, NO, NO to keep things the same. And last time I check, we’re doing pretty good these days.

Either way, do your homework and go vote. And if you don’t understand a proposal or don’t care for any of the candidates in a particular race, you can always skip that one on the ballot and move on to the next one.
