Department of Energy Labor & Economic Growth and City of Rochester Announce Installation of Solar Roofing System

December 15, 2010 – The Michigan Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth officials and the City of Rochester Mayor Jeffrey Cuthbertson announce installation of a solar roofing system to the city’s firehouse – making it the first in Michigan. The announcement will be made today at 3:00 p.m. at Fire Station #1 located at 227 East Second Street in Rochester.

The City of Rochester awarded the contract to New Energy Solutions, LLC of Milford for installation of a 9200 Watt Integrated “LUMA Resources” Solar Photovoltaic Roofing System; LUMA Resources of Rochester Hills is the selected supplier of the project’s solar panels.  

DELEG’s Rebuild Michigan program conducted the initial energy audit on the City of Rochester’s municipal buildings and provided a Clean Energy Advance Manufacturing grant in the amount of $500,000 a $200,000 loan from funds through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009.
