Directors Cup Awarded to Rochester College

The Rochester College Warriors earned their first ever United States Collegiate Athletic Association’s Director’s Cup Award for the 2015-2016 year.  The award was presented to Rochester College Athletic Director Klint Pleasant at this year’s USCAA National Convention in Richmond, VA. The Director’s Cup is awarded annually to the USCAA athletic program that has had the most overall success during the academic year. Standings for the Cup are based on a point system and algorithm. Points are awarded to each school based on the number of sports offered and results from USCAA National Championship events.

Coach Pleasant was extremely happy with the athletic program’s body of work. “As an athletic director, the fact that our department can win this award, to be awarded the top program out of 90 schools across the country, is a real honor. It is a credit to our coaches and athletes.”

The Warriors have finished in the top three in points the last three years and were able to come out on top this year behind strong showings at the USCAA national tournaments by the men’s golf team, women’s cross country team, volleyball team, men’s and women’s basketball teams and baseball team.

“We have a long standing relationship and history with the USCAA,” Pleasant said. “We finished in the top three the last several years but have never won it. We had lots of great stories about some of our individual athletes this year, and at the end of the year, we were able to score enough points as a program to win this prestigious award.”

Almost 100 Rochester College athletes participated in USCAA national post season events this past academic year. The Warriors boast five USCAA All-Tournament selections, 12 USCAA All-Americans, 30 USCAA Academic All-Americans, one USCAA Student Athlete of the Year (junior baseball player Jesse Rometty) along with the men’s basketball D1 Coach of the Year, Klint Pleasant.  This is the second year in a row the USCAA Student Athlete of the Year award for baseball has been won by an RC Warrior.

“All of this shows that our coaches and athletes are excelling on and off the field and court,” said Pleasant. “This is the pinnacle award for how all athletic departments are judged within the Association and we couldn’t be happier for our Institution, department, coaches and athletes.”
