Historical Society’s 24th Annual Antique Appraisal Day to Feature Twelve Appraisers at the Rochester Community House

The Rochester-Avon Historical Society will host its 24th annual Antique Appraisal Day on Sunday, March 5 from noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Rochester Community House, 816 Ludlow. There will be twelve appraisers on hand to evaluate everything from antique art and Barbie dolls to writing instruments and violins.

Antique Appraisal day, sponsored by the historical society, has been one of the most popular events in the Greater Rochester area for over two decades. Similar to PBS’s “Antique Roadshow,” Antique Appraisal Day gives attendees the opportunity to learn more about their treasured heirlooms and vintage items. Regardless of the monetary values these items may or may not have, the events is always a fun and entertaining way to spend a winter afternoon.

Local antiques experts and appraisers, including representatives from Haig’s of Rochester, Rush Antiques, and Rochester Sports Cards and Memorabilia, will appraise a variety of antique items including, books, manuscripts, first editions, coins, clocks, glass, pottery, collectibles, china, lighting, lamps, furniture, military items, antique weapons, dolls and related items, teddy bears, costume & fine jewelry, Eastern Art, engravings, needlepoint, art, vintage toys, musical instruments (violin, cello, bass, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, electric and acoustic guitars), and more.

Attendees are asked to bring their items, or photos of larger items, to have them appraised. Admission to Antique Appraisal Day is free. Appraisals are $5 per item. Limit five (5) items per person and cash only payments. Parking is free and complimentary refreshments will be available throughout the afternoon. No buying or selling is permitted at this event. All items are appraised at fair market value.

Proceeds from the appraisal event benefit the Rochester-Avon Historical Society and its mission to preserve, collect and interpret the history of the greater Rochester area for present and future generations.
