Detroit Greenways Coalition Talk at River Crest Hall

May 24, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

CASH BAR and Snacks available

With 200 miles of trails, bike lanes, and bike routes, Detroit has caught up to many major U.S. cities and now we’re looking to start leapfrogging them. Todd Scott, Executive Director of the Detroit Greenways Coalition will give an update on recent and upcoming trail and biking investments, including the Dequindre Cut extension, Beltline greenway, automated bike/ped counters, protected bike lanes, and innovative planning efforts for urban trails. He’ll also talk about plans to get bike lanes and a walking trail on the Gordie Howe Bridge — an international connection with the Windsor/Essex trail network. Todd will highlight the many parallels between today’s efforts and those of bicycle advocates in the 1890s. Grab a drink and join us for this free event.

The Clinton River Trail passes through five cities in the middle of Oakland County: Rochester, Rochester Hills, Auburn Hills, Pontiac and Sylvan Lake. FCRT, a volunteer organization working to develop and improve the trail for all users, welcomes anyone who would like to become involved. More information on FCRT is available at www.clintonrivertrail.org
