For many, South Korea is a little known country on a distant side of the globe, but for Mariya Fogarasi it was home. She’ll be take patrons on a tour of the beautiful country, and share her stories from her four years living in South Korea.
“Many people don’t realize how stunningly beautiful South Korea is, or how powerful their past has been,” said Fogarasi, “I’m delighted to highlight the beauty and rich history of South Korea with the community.”
South Korea was a Japanese colony from 1910 to 1945, and was the sight of the Korean War, where many Americans fought to defend its freedom. By 2010 is became one of the world’s top ten trading nations, and in 2018 it hosted the Winter Olympics.
“It is always a thrill to host an event that showcases the beauty of another country and culture,” said Amanda Harrison Keighley, “We’re thrilled to have Mariya share her first-hand account of life in South Korea.”
The event will be held on November 21 at 7:00 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room of the Rochester Hills Public Library and is open to everyone with an RHPL library card. This program is geared toward adults but all ages are welcome. Please register in advance at www.RHPL.org
