“F” is for Father’s Day and Fun!

Father’s Day is quickly approaching with the big day being Sunday, June 16. Don’t forget to plan something special for the father in your life. I have a few gift ideas from two of my favorite spots in downtown Rochester, as well as some fun events taking place at the police station and the library.

Moon River Soap Company

The Moon River Soap Company makes their own soap on-site right downtown. They pour every day around 10:00 a.m. and I plan on watching sometime this summer because it sounds pretty interesting. I’m sure it  sounds strange that I’m highlighting soap for Father’s Day, but the Detroit Grit Soap sounds pretty manly and tough. This olive oil soap is made with Michigan Cherry coffee so it’s gritty to get even the dirtiest hands clean. There are also a variety of “Man Soaps” available so be sure to stop in. Moon River Soap Company is located at the corner of East St. and 4th St. Just follow the bubbles!

Smackwater Jack’s Café

Smackwater Jack SignEnjoy a casual meal with Dad at Smackwater Jack’s Café. Their menu ranges from salads to pizza to sandwiches (which are delicious!). You can dine inside or outside on their shaded patio. There also great Michigan products available for purchase. My personal favorite is the Leelanau Pralines & Cream coffee. It smells and tastes amazing! They also carry Cherry Republic salsa and candy. Yum! Smackwater Jack’s Café is located at the corner of 3rd St. and Walnut.

Police Department Open House

You can start your Father’s Day celebration early by attending Rochester’s Police Department Open House. The police department will be open 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 8. There will be station tours, a firearms display, a motorcycle demonstration and many other exciting events. Don’t miss it!

Father’s Day Carnival at the Rochester Hills Public Library

On Saturday, June 15, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., the RHPL will host a Father’s Day Carnival. Be sure to bring your dad for quality time engaging in fun and adventurous challenges. Don’t forget to register at www.rhpl.org under the Events tab.

I Heart Dad

I Heart DadSupport Dad with this adorable onesie from James & Olive (formerly Green Baby). This will bring a smile to any dad’s face when he sees his little guy or gal wearing it.

Gift giving for men seems exceptionally difficult so I hope I pointed you in the right direction for this Father’s Day. Enjoy your weekend celebrating your dad!
