Saturday May 4th marks opening day of Downtown Rochester’s Farmer’s Market. I cannot wait! The more I educate myself on our food sources and how it’s grown or raised, the more I long to grow my own food. I have neither time nor patience (nor sun in my very shady backyard) to actually garden at my home. I also have zero interest in raising chickens or any other animal. The next best place to buy food is a local farmer’s market. I can actually talk with the farmers and ask all those important questions regarding how it’s grown, what pesticide is used (hopefully none!) and where it is grown.
There are some freebies to get your hands on this opening day. There will be free tote bags for the first 500 adult customers, a children’s scavenger hunt and pot-a-plant activity (great Mother’s Day gift), as well as the opportunity to win 1 of 20 $25 gift cards! Each child will also get a rubber duckie. So cute!
I’m really excited to see what’s in store for us this farmer’s market season! Checkout the vendor profiles at http://www.downtownrochestermi.com/events/farmers-market/vendor-profiles/ for more information on each vendor. I hope to see everyone down at E. Third and Water St. for the farmer’s market. It’s open every Saturday from 8am – 1pm.
