Fatal Hit and Run, Sheriff Needs Your Help

The Sheriff’s Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal vehicle/pedestrian hit and run crash that occurred upon northbound Telegraph Road near Menoninee Street at 7:10 p.m. in Pontiac.

A 53 year old homeless resident of Pontiac was killed when he was struck in the left lane by an unknown vehicle as he attempting to cross Telegraph Rd. A witness described the vehicle as an older model Red SUV.

The pedestrian was not crossing in a crosswalk.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:25 p.m. via telemetry and later transported to the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The suspect vehicle is possibly a Red 1998 – 2001 GMC Jimmy or Oldsmobile Bravada with left front headlight damage. Sample photos are attached.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for assistance with information on the crash, including identifying the responsible vehicle and driver.

The crash remains under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.  There is a $1000 cash reward.
