Painters Margaret Glinke of Shelby Township and Gerry Post of Rochester will be demonstrating and selling their work at this year’s Rochester Area Heritage Festival. The festival is Sept. 25-26 at Rochester College, 800 West Avon in Rochester Hills.
Post is known for his paintings of historic buildings. Glinke’s painting technique consists of an impasto layer of gauze, sand and modeling paste, with layers of transparent acrylic washes. She paints both representational and abstract subjects. She also does rapidograph ink drawings of homes, businesses, churches, carousel animals and Great Lakes lighthouses. Her work is currently on display in the Rochester College library.
The festival will also feature Rochester the art of custom jeweler James Powrie, Hot Hats ‘n’ Wraps by Jackie Downey of West Bloomfield, Fresh Egyptian Linens by Sharon Head of Fraser, and other local artists offering bowls, stained and fused glass, woodworking and turnings, doll clothing and more. Hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. both days.
