Fire on Livernois in Rochester Hills

On Sunday, April 10, 2011 at 1:17 P.M., the Rochester Hills Fire Department responded to a reported house fire in the 3000 block of S. Livernois.  The first unit on the scene reported a large amount of fire on the back of the dwelling.  Firefighters were able to enter the house and bring the fire under control within minutes.  There were two adults, two children, and several pets in the house when the fire occurred.  All occupants, including a dog, were able to get out of the house safely by the time firefighters arrived.  The first firefighters who entered the house were able to remove a cat that was also unharmed.  Rochester Hills received assistance from the Rochester Fire Department.  This incident resulted in the closing of Livernois Road between South Boulevard and Auburn Road for approximately three hours.  The cause of the fire appears to be accidental and started in the laundry room.

Fifteen minutes after responding to the fire on S. Livernois, the Rochester Hills Fire Department, assisted by Auburn Hills Fire Department, responded to another reported fire in an apartment on Lower Ridge, near Livernois and Auburn Road.  Firefighters arrived and entered a second floor apartment to find fire burning in the living room area.  Firefighters were able to enter and quickly extinguish the fire.  The apartment was not occupied at the time except for a dog which firefighters were able to safely remove.  The cause of this fire remains under investigation, but appears to be accidental in nature.
