Tim Comes to Town
“We are thrilled to announce the opening and welcome Tim Horton’s to Rochester Hills. I am sure this is the most anticipated nine-seat restaurant opening in the city’s history! It is obvious to me that Tim Horton’s has a loyal following and we are pleased that our residents will now be able to enjoy their coffee and food close to home. We welcome them and wish them much success in the years to come,” said Rochester Hills mayor Bryan Barnett.
“The Tim Hortons chain was founded in 1964 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. The chain’s focus on top quality, always fresh product, value, great service and community leadership has allowed it to grow into the largest quick service restaurant chain in Canada specializing in always fresh coffee, baked goods and home-style lunches.” ~Tim Hortons Website
Over four-thousand Tim Hortons are found through Canada and nine U.S. states. The 500th U.S. restaurant opened in Detroit in 2008. On April 18 the first Tim Hortons opened in Rochester Hills. Just outside the Rochester boarder on Rochester Road (north of Avon Road), travelers going south in the morning will find an easy turn in (and out) to grab coffee and pastries. Located where Dunkin Donuts used to be, this new fast food chain store is seeing steady business both with the drive-thru and walk-in options.
A Family Business
Ravinder Saini, his wife Anita and two of their daughters work at the restaurant. Ravinder comes from the automotive industry and moved to Rochester Hills from Canada 10 years ago. Being from Canada, Ravinder is quite familiar with the Tim Hortons chain. Twenty-five employees will call this new business in town their workplace.
“Bake less, bake often” is the slogan Ravinder uses to talk about the restaurant. Tim Hortons’ motto is “Always Fresh.” Ravinder told Rochester Media that the coffee is never more than 20 minutes old.
Ribbon Cutting this Friday
The Rochester Regional Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Ribbon Cutting on Friday, April 26, at 11:00 a.m. at the new Tim Hortons Café & Bake Shop, located at 940 S. Rochester Road. Mayor Barnett and others will be on hand to celebrate the grand opening and there will be giveaways and raffles all morning.
“The opening of this restaurant is reflective of our continued growth across metro Detroit. Detroit is one of our strongest markets; we closed out 2012 with more than 20 new traditional and non-traditional restaurants across metro Detroit,” said Brynn Burton, Public Relations Manager for the U.S.
