A recent donation of 6,000 disposable face masks from the Ford Motor Company Fund significantly helps Rochester Hills Public Library’s efforts to mitigate the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
“This generous donation from the Ford Motor Company Fund,” said Juliane Morian, library director, “has helped offset the impact of unanticipated expenditures. It helps RHPL do more when our community needs us the most.”
Rochester Hills Public Library (RHPL) was one of the first libraries in Michigan to reopen its doors this past summer. Face masks are mandatory for entry into the building. The donation provides library patrons the necessary PPE if they do not already have it.
In November, RHPL reverted to Phase Four of its reopening plan, which steps back service to drive-thru and express lobby checkout only.
In Phase Four
- Library hours remain the same;
- Building access is limited to Express Pickup & Return either in the library’s entrance/lobby or drive-thru window;
- For lobby pick-ups, patrons must use the self-checkout station in the library’s rotunda.
- Librarians are available to answer questions by phone or email;
- The community Bookmobile is off the road.
Library patrons are encouraged to reserve books, DVDs, and more Online and may choose to pick them up at either the drive-thru window or in the library’s lobby. The library is also open 24/7 online for patrons to borrow eBooks, audiobooks, movies, music, TV shows, and more. RHPL added more digital titles for circulation and has expanded WiFi access to the south and west parking lots.
