Foundation Scholarships for Rochester Community Schools Students Total Nearly $100,000

The Rochester Community Schools Foundation and the Community Foundation of Greater Rochester, in partnership with the Kiwanis Club of Rochester and the Rochester Rotary Club, will be providing area students with nearly $100,000 in scholarships this year, according to a press release statement.

“Scholarships are an investment in our community’s future,” said Executive Director of the Community Foundation of Greater Rochester Peg Hamilton. “Since 1983, we have been connecting donors, nonprofit organizations and leaders to philanthropic opportunities to strengthen the Greater Rochester area. It’s all about one generation helping the next.”

Approximately 69 scholarships from 49 different donors will be awarded this year to area students.

“The charitable contributions of our donors make it possible for all students to follow their dreams through continuing education,” said Rochester Community School District Director of Community Relations and the Foundation Lori Grein. “Through their generosity, these benefactors can really make a difference. They also set an example for others to pay it forward.”

Donors will have the opportunity to meet the recipients of their generosity during a reception on Friday, May 15, at the Adams High School Auditorium. A meet and greet is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., with the formal program beginning at 7 p.m. Attendance is by invitation only.

“The Annual Scholarship Reception introduces students to donors and community leaders,” said Hamilton. “It is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the students’ past achievements and share their plans for the future.”
