Four Free Family Friendly Fun Films in Downtown Rochester

Movies in the Moonlight return to Downtown Rochester on Saturday, July 17 for the 20th season. This year there are four consecutive Saturday nights.

“I can’t think of a better way for families to spend their Saturday nights under the stars,” said Jenna O’Dell, Events Coordinator of the Rochester Downtown Development Authority. “Movies in the Moonlight is a community staple for many local families.”

Movies in the Moonlight is located in the parking lot at the corner of E. Third & Water, one block east of Main. Featured movies begin at dusk (approximately 9:15 p.m.) and pre-shows start at 8:30 p.m. Admission is free, arrive early for the best seating. Movies in the Moonlight is BYOC (Bring Your Own Chairs). Food and drinks will be available for purchase, but movie goers are welcome to bring their own. No alcohol or glass containers allowed.

2021 Movies in the Moonlight

  • July 17: Aladdin (2019)
  • July 24: Grease
  • July 31: Jumanji: The Next Level
  • August 7: Frozen II

Movies rated PG-13 are edited versions whenever possible, however, parental guidance is still recommended. Pre-show activities include a presentation from bring your own magic carpet on July 17, Grease dance performance on July 24, The Little Creature Co. on July 31, and Frozen singalong on August 7.
