Friends of the Falcons Gala to honor top Rochester athletes

Rochester High School Celebrates Success

Falcons GalaAt Rochester High School, the saying goes, “It’s always a great day to be a Falcon.” This year, the Falcons are celebrating those great days with a festive event to support future successes on the Falcon fields.

The accomplishments of the Falcons are many and include the Falcon Wrestlers who earned a District Championship aided in part by Shwan Shadaia, the two-time 189-pound state champion. His brother, Shane, also competed at the state level and placed 5th in the 171-pound bracket. Both Shadaia brothers received scholarships to wrestle at Michigan State University next year.

Spiro Pliakos, also had a stellar year on the soccer field earning his spot on the All-State Dream Team, being named All-American, and earning a scholarship to the University of Detroit for soccer.

Senior Jessica Goethals collected her own accolades as All-State Cross Country runner and earned a scholarship to Michigan State University for Cross Country.

Team sports fared extremely well also as both the Boys Swim and Boys Tennis teams battled their way to win the White Division Championships.

The Rochester Athletic Boosters are excited to celebrate these and many more successes at their first Friends of the Falcons Gala, on Friday, May 30 at 7 p.m. at the River Crest Banquet Facility.

This evening event will include a strolling hors d’oeuvres reception, cash bar, silent and live auctions, raffles, and music by Chris Cendaña. Funds raised at this event will benefit the Rochester High School Athletic Boosters, potentially impacting every Falcon program and athlete.

The auction will feature such exciting, yet diverse, items as complimentary Walt Disney World One-Day Park Hopper passes, premium Tigers tickets along the 3rd base line, and a festive night out to various Rochester establishments in a chauffeured limousine.

The Falcons invite and encourage members of the community to join them for a fun-filled evening for the parents, staff and friends of Rochester High School. Early Bird discount tickets are now on sale allowing guests to save at least $10 per person. Ticket forms are available on the Rochester H.S. athletics website at http://media.rochester.k12.mi.us/download/181841.

Members of the community who are interested in supporting this event and the Rochester Falcon athletes are invited to attend the event, donate items to the raffle and auctions or purchase a table or sponsorship level. Businesses and individuals who donate by May 1 will be recognized in the event program. All donations are tax deductible to the extent of the law. For more information, contact Sally Anglim, 248-420-5276 or anglim7@gmail.com.
