At their annual meeting in October the Friends of the Rochester Hills Public Library presented a check for $125,000 to the library. “We were thrilled to receive this large check,” said library director Christine Lind Hage. “With the way the economy has been in the last few years, it is the generosity of the Friends that has allowed us to maintain the many educational and entertainment programs offered at the library.”
The Friends group is a non-profit organization that supports the Rochester Hills Public Library. The money is raised through popular book sales, an annual Holiday Home Tour (November 17 this year), the Friends Library Store and special events.
On Saturday, March 8, 2014 the Friends will hold a new type of special event fundraiser for the library. The Wine, Wit & Wisdom program is based on the popular TED Talks (www.ted.com), but will feature local speakers. More information on the event will be available after the first of the year.
“At this time, we are looking for contributions that can be used to create silent auction baskets at Wine, Wit & Wisdom,” said Friends’ president Kathy Dorn. Individuals or businesses wishing to contribution can contact Christine Hage at the library, (248) 650-7122, or bring new items into the library.
The Rochester Hills Public Library is located at 500 Olde Towne Road, three blocks east of Main Street in downtown Rochester.
