Frustrated with Dropped Calls or Bad Reception?

If you are like me, you are frustrated with these great new cell phones that do everything except work well as a phone.  I personally was so excited to be one of the first to try the new iPhone 4 this summer.  I have consisently dropped three or four calls per day since I first received it in June of this year.  Well, it appears there is a new answer available from AT&T called a MicroCell.  Other companies, like Verizon and Sprint are calling them Femtocells.

My understanding of how MicroCells or Femtocells work is that they are like wireless routers. They link to all the phones in the area that use a specific company’s signal (AT&T, Verizon, etc.) and they connect the phone call directly through the wifi in the building.  You must have high speed internet in order for it to work. I have seen their prices ranging from $99 to $150.  If you use your phone mostly at home or the office or wherever you have the MicroCell or Femtocell, then they will save you on minutes.

This sounds like a great short term answer to the problem.
